Three DuBois Area Historical Society members were recognized during the recent Clearfield County Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) recognition ceremony held at the Clearfield County Fairgrounds.

Beecher Klingensmith was recognized as Volunteer of the Year. Judy Leech and Carol Johnson were both recognized for providing over 1,000 hours of volunteer service.

Klingensmith is currently serving as the curator for the DuBois Area Historical Society. He is also a volunteer at the DuBois Nursing Home, the DuBois Regional Medical Center, Kiwanis, and many other organizations. He also has acted in several theatre productions in the area.

Leech is currently the second vice president of the DuBois Area Historical Society. She is in charge of the Society’s fund raising and many other activities. All of her over 1,000 hours were with the DuBois Area Historical Society.

All of Johnson’s over 1,000 hours were also accumulated with the DuBois Area Historical Society. A past member of the Society’s board, she volunteers most of her time in the genealogical library organizing family histories and doing research.

Nellie Beer, the current Society treasurer, is the supervisor of the RSVP Station at the DuBois Area Historical Society. The Society previously earned the Clearfield County RSVP Station Award on Jan. 25, 2000.
